Gallery d’Arte, 548 West 28 th Street, Suite 328, New York City is pleased to present a

solo exhibition Nature’s Original Form: Dongyoul Lee. This show will run from

December 7 th –13 th , 2016 with an opening reception on Thursday, December 8 th from 6 to

8 pm.

 

Dongyoul Lee is a textile and dyeing designer who has produced his works on the silk

clothes based on the subject matter of natural scenery by using paraffin printing and

acidic dyeing technique including pointillism. He also utilizes simplicity, repeatability,

characteristic of materials that represent an aesthetic of restrained form and startling

originality of minimalism. The Nature’s Original Form portrays how nature continues to

grow through evolution and extinction. Lee also focuses on the expressive freedom of

gesture at the abstract expressionism, whilst revealing his unique inner world.

Lee was born in Seoul, South Korea in 1967 and is currently a professor of textile and

arts at Chung-Ang University. He has been working as a textiles and dyeing designer for

30 years since he was an undergraduate student. He is currently the chairman of the

Korea Textile Design Association.
