FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:

Gallery d’Arte, 548 West 28th Street, Suite 328, New York City is pleased to present a solo exhibition Grafting To: Joohyun Kang. This show will run from October 18-22, 2016 with an opening reception on Thursday, October 20th from 6 to 8 pm.

In this exhibition “Grafting To” Kang shows her intense curiosity and thoughtful cleverness through her unique experiments by showing her workflow. Kang’s earlier work was an exploration of natural ecosystem that is connected to human relations which presents the law of the jungle prevails in the form of objects encrusted with beads, crystals, sequins and embellishments in strong and vivid color palette.By contrast, Kang’s new work is an exploration of the self and reflects a distinctly path of harsh life in drawing with black and white work. In her work, she strikes a unique combination of impressive beauty, fascinating collective process and deep metaphorical meaning.

Kang received her first MFA in Seoul and earned her second MFA from Pratt Institute in NY. She is based in New York and continues her artistic journey through the exploration of material and concept.
